Everyday I see golfers set-up to the ball with their hands either level or behind the golf ball. This can cause a ‘scooping’ action through impact, causing heavy and thin strikes.
As you can see in the image above, the players hands are positioned slightly ahead of the ball, which is perfect for iron shots off the ground. A good reference point is if you let go of the club it should drop on the inside of your left thigh for a right handed player.
This will help promote a slightly steeper attack angle creating a better sound and a more powerful strike.
